Presently employed as a lecturer, teaching Information Communication Technology to both adults and school leavers, including those with physical and sensory disabilities. I have extensive experience working with students on drug rehabilitation programmes and with students with severe/moderate learning difficulties.

 

I have also been heavily involved in setting up and designing both a Cisco starter course and a PC Repair course for introduction to the college curriculum in August 05.

 

 

Extensive experience of repairing, upgrading, designing and building of individual workstations and small business LAN’s.

 

Upgrading existing business networks from Windows 9x using Novell to Windows 2000 Pro / Windows XP Pro.

 

Designing, repair and maintenance of home and small business local area networks including laying of CAT5 cabling, making patch / crossover cables, cable fault finding, switch / router configurations and server / workstation configurations.

 

Considerable experience of installing all operating systems including Win 9x, Win2K, Win NT, Win XP, and all major software packages, including Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Sage 2000 – installation and maintenance of Novell software.

 

 

Additional skills/experience includes:

 

·         Teaching/tutoring students who are blind/partially-sighted, deaf/partially-deaf, students who are participating in drug rehabilitation programs (e.g. methadone), students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, students with mental health issues and physically-handicapped students.

·         Using IT aids for the above students, including screen magnifiers, talking keyboards, on-screen keyboards, Braille printers, Braille keyboards and the "JAWS" system, designed for visually-impaired students, which narrates every keystroke and function in real-time.

·         Installation of operating systems and other support software such as word processing etc.

·         Also presently rewriting and updating Hardware and Installation modules (HIM NC).

·         I have also been involved in extensive curriculum development for current classes and for new classes being scheduled for next year including: a Computer Build class - which will involve students designing and building their own computers; and  a proposed new course, commencing next year, which will provides access to the Cisco CCNA programme, also being implemented for next year.

·         I teach students up to HND level, in courses which include PC-Passport, ITA 1, ITA 2 & ECDL.
